Does this trade make sense for the Miami Heat?
Is Jimmy Butler the future in Miami? That is how it seemed last year but all it takes is one bad year for a team to second guess. Bam Adebayo has to remain with Heat but the same cannot be said about Butler. He would warrant a large return which means the Heat would get some replacements in a potential NBA trade scenario.
It begins with Michael Porter Jr. He has remained healthy and has turned into a blossoming star in the league. Porter Jr. is only going to improve and could join Tyler Herro on the perimeter in Miami. He would much better align with the timeline of Adebayo, particularly.
Monte Morris would provide an answer for the Heat at the point guard position, too. He brings a steady hand as the orchestrator of the half-court attack and would enable the team to move on from Goran Dragic without being left with a hole.
The Heat have been linked to some big-name players in the offseason, especially at the top of the offense. It is likely that Miami goes after a point guard this offseason but they could round out the lineup with a deal such as this one.

Pat Riley will be aggressive in the offseason and we have seen this many times before. If Butler is not viewed as a long-term piece, it would be wise to move him right away.
