New Orleans Pelicans
To begin the offseason, the New Orleans Pelicans need to make a definitive decision on Lonzo Ball. Ball is a restricted free agent, but reports have shown that the Pelicans aren’t likely to match any significant offers for the gifted playmaker.
While Ball could be headed out the door, the Pelicans could bring in a formidable presence at the shooting guard position in Barton.
If Ball isn’t brought back, then Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson are expected to dominate the usage for the Pelicans. There is a real need to add complementary talents around them to maximize floor spacing, however.
Given the amount of attention that both Ingram and Williamson garner, Barton could excel in a role that allows him to get open shots from outside. This season, Barton converted 41.1 percent of his three-point shots that a defender was within four-to-six feet of him.
