Does this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?
The Minnesota Timberwolves have some options in the offseason but they do not have much of a choice when it comes to rebuilding. They should not be interested in keeping this core together because it has shown that it is not working.
Anthony Edwards, the No. 1 pick in 2020 and reigning Rookie of the Year, seems to be the only piece that is untouchable in a trade.
When rebuilding, teams have shown interest in building assets. The Timberwolves would add a first-round pick in this trade and that is an immediate intrigue. Achiuwa is a player to keep an eye on as well. He has started taking that next step toward being a productive player in the post.
Achiuwa can be a piece on both ends for Minnesota and it would benefit them more if they decide to keep Towns, even though he would warrant the biggest return in a trade. It will be interesting to see the direction of Minnesota once the offseason begins.
