Miami Heat Receive: G Collin Sexton
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Tyler Herro, 2025 first-round pick
Collin Sexton is a score-first point guard that has shown prowess on the offensive end. This is valuable in today’s NBA, especially at the most-important position on the floor. The Miami Heat could be going through some changes this offseason and this is one.
In return, Tyler Herro would be sent back to Cleveland. He has looked like a rising star during his first two years with the Heat. The Cavaliers would also get a first-round pick in 2025.
There is a need for the Heat to find a long-term answer at the point guard position. Miami will need to decide on the $19.4 million team-option of Goran Dragic. Even if that is accepted and he were to play out the 2021-22 season with the team, he already is 35-years-old.
Sexton will be playing on the final year of his rookie contract in 2021-22. He will be in need of a large contract next offseason when he is a restricted free agent to which the Heat would need to oblige.
