Re-sign Richaun Holmes in free agency to a long-term deal
Trading either Buddy Hield or Harrison Barnes also opens up the door for the Kings to have enough cap space to go out and bring back Richaun Holmes. The 2020-21 season was the final year on Holmes’ contract with the Kings and he now enters free agency as arguably the best center available.
If the Kings are to keep Richaun Holmes, then they will have to pay him quite handsomely because other teams in the league are definitely willing to spend $15M+ on him for a new multi-year contract. Keeping Holmes needs to be a priority for the Kings this offseason because of how valuable he has been to them over the years.
The last two seasons in Sacramento, Richaun Holmes has averaged 13.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and has shot 64.1% from the floor. His 64.1% field goal percentage ranks him 7th in the league over the last two seasons and makes him one of the more productive centers in the league on the offensive-end of the floor.
With the Kings, Holmes has been getting more and more comfortable on the offensive-end of the floor and he has turned himself into a valuable commodity for them to turn to for production.

His touch around the rim is fantastic and he is a real double-double threat everytime he is on the floor, which is why the Sacramento Kings will need him in order to be successful moving forward.
Marvin Bagley III is also going to be up for a contract extension since he is entering the final year of his rookie contract, but keeping Holmes needs to be the #1 priority for the Kings this offseason.

Losing him sets the Kings back even farther in their rebuilding process and with no young talents besides Bagley in their frontcourt, the Kings really need Richaun Holmes to be with them long-term.
De’Aaron Fox cannot carry this team by himself and Richaun Holmes looks like a reliable build block that they can utilize for the future success of their franchise. If Holmes signs elsewhere in free agency, Sacramento will not be able to recover on the interior for many years to come.
