Familiarity With Luke Walton
When Kyle Kuzma began his NBA career in 2017, Luke Walton was the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. He is now the head coach of the Sacramento Kings, which is a good thing for Kuzma.
Kuzma had arguably the two best seasons of his career, his first two in the league, under Walton.
As a rookie, he took the league by storm averaging 16.1 points per game and knocking down 36.6 percent of his 3-point attempts. He also proved to be a deft rebounder, averaging 6.3 per game.
In his second season, Kuzma upped his scoring average to 18.1 points per game, which was second-best on the team behind LeBron James. His 3-point shooting dipped in his sophomore season, but his overall percentage and free throw shooting both improved.

Following that season, Walton was fired as head coach and Anthony Davis was acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans, drastically changing Kuzma’s role. He has yet to refind that same success he had earlier in his career since then. Maybe playing for his old head coach will get him back on track.
