Does this trade make sense for the New Orleans Pelicans?

Acquiring Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson, Grayson Allen and two first-round draft picks gives the Pelicans more chances to build for the future, but realistically, they do not achieve anything by making this trade. They would give up another great, young talent and in the process, they would set themselves back even farther in terms of rebuilding.

The Pelicans screwed up things with Chris Paul and traded him away when he was just entering the best years of his career, they did the same with Anthony Davis, and now they run the risk of doing the same thing with Brandon Ingram.

The definition of “insanity” is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results according to Albert Einstein and per sources, he was a pretty smart man! By trading away Ingram, the Pelicans would once again be stuck doing the same wrong thing over and over, which could eventually lead to a fallout with Zion Williamson.

There have already been reports this offseason about Zion being “unhappy” in New Orleans as a result of him wanting to win and who can blame him! Williamson will now play for his third coach in the NBA in as many seasons and through two years in the league, this organization has not really done anything to surround their young superstar with more talented players.

Trading Ingram away would be yet another example of why this organization has failed time and time again through the years, which is why it would not be a smart move to make this deal with Memphis. New Orleans needs to focus on keeping guys like Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart instead of finding ways to trade their best players.

If anything, New Orleans should try to trade Eric Bledsoe and Steven Adams this offseason because not only are they two older players, but their contracts are horrible and they really do not bring anything to the table in terms of making the Pelicans a successful team.

While some consider the Pelicans a team “on the rise” in the Western Conference and a team to watch out for over the years, I really do not understand the hype with them. Time and time again, their front-office makes all the wrong moves and until they actually prove that they can put together a contending team, I am just going to assume that they will follow the same blueprint that has been laid out for years.

Do the Pelicans have the potential to become a strong team in the Western Conference? They absolutely do with Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram leading them, but New Orleans is still a far ways away roster-wise from being anything special in the Western Conference.
