Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?

Earlier this offseason, our own Evan Massey reported that the Lakers are expected to gauge trade interest for Kyle Kuzma this offseason. If this is still the case, then Los Angeles should absolutely make this trade with the Rockets because Eric Gordon is a player that fits their scheme.

He can shoot, he can score, and Gordon is a pretty strong one-on-one defender on the perimeter, which is why adding him on the wing makes sense for the Lakers. While he is older and does not present much of a future, Eric Gordon is a player that can come in and help the Lakers potentially win another championship, which is their goal.

They did win a championship with Kyle Kuzma playing a bench role in 2020, but there seems to be some animosity between Kuzma and the Lakers. He wants to play a big role on the team, but with LeBron James and Anthony Davis as their focal points, Kyle Kuzma’s role is limited, which is why a fresh start could make sense for his career.

Before the Lakers acquired Anthony Davis, Kuzma was a really solid contributor for them and one of their better offensive players, but since Davis’ arrival, Kuzma and his role with this team have slowly declined.

He really isn’t a valuable asset to them anymore in terms of contending for championships, which is why leveraging him for a veteran player who can help the Lakers win makes sense.
