Restricted Free Agents Split
One of the reasons the Heat need to open up money is to retain their restricted free agents, Kendrick Nunn and Duncan Robinson. Both will receive massive raises this offseason.
Nunn has been an integral part of the team’s rotation the last two seasons, averaging 15 points, 3.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 29.4 minutes per game. After playing out a three-year, $3.31 million deal, Nunn should earn a contract paying him into the mid-teens per year.
Duncan Robinson has been a mainstay in the Miami Heat’s starting five the last two seasons and developed into one of the best shooters in the NBA. He has made 42.7 percent of his 3-point attempts the last two seasons, giving Miami all-important floor-spacing.
Miami will attempt to retain both, but they will end up only keeping one. Nunn will receive an offer sheet that is too rich for the Heat’s blood and he will be playing elsewhere this fall.

Robinson, on the other hand, will be retained. Replacing a sharpshooter like that would prove extremely difficult and Miami will match any offer sheet he receives, should he even get that far in the free-agent process.
