Miami Heat Decline Club-Options
The Miami Heat are one of the teams that could open up significant cap space this offseason. They have team options on Goran Dragic for $19.4 million and Andre Iguodala for $15 million. While both veterans were key parts of the rotation this season, Miami will decline both options.
Dragic, who is 35-years old, has been a mainstay in Miami since he was acquired in 2015. When healthy, Dragic has proved he is still a productive player, but injuries have really hampered him the last three seasons.
Iguodala, who turned 37 this season, just isn’t worth $15 million at this stage in his career. While his experience and leadership are worthwhile to have, spending that kind of money on a player who is losing the battle with Father Time is not a smart business move.
This is a risky move as both will be sought after in free agency. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that both will be moved on from this offseason.

The Heat could decline both options and sign them to lower dollar amounts, giving them much-needed cap space and maneuverability to retain other players to bring in new faces.
