Does this trade make sense for Houston Rockets?

The Rockets have some serious work to do in hopes of rebuilding and competing once again. They were unable to get to that level with Harden and that is why it was time for a change.

John Wall is currently manning the point-guard position but he is not a long-term piece. If the Rockets are looking for that centerpiece, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could be the player to get.

This all depends on how the Rockets view this draft class compared to Gilgeous-Alexander. He had his best statistical season this year but played just 35 games. Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 23.7 points per game while shooting 41.8% from three-point range.

With the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Houston will have a chance to add Evan Mobley or one of the best point guards in the draft. Gilgeous-Alexander is a proven commodity that has three years in the league. Houston would get that proven player that is just 22-years-old.

The Rockets will have offers if the No. 2 pick in the draft is up for grabs in a trade. The return will have to be large and Gilgeous-Alexander is that type of player that could warrant it.
