Does this trade make sense for the Oklahoma City Thunder?
Sam Presti has built up a tremendous amount of draft capital over the years. They have sent away some stars and this sent them into a rebuild. This includes Chris Paul, who led Oklahoma City to the postseason a year ago in the NBA Bubble. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could be next on that long list.
If they can land the second pick in the draft, this trade makes sense. Gilgeous-Alexander has come up in trade rumors and there are few returns that could benefit a rebuilding team more than this one.
The second pick gives the Thunder unlimited options. If they want a point guard to replace Gilgeous-Alexander, they will have a chance to add Jalen Suggs or another perimeter threat like Jalen Green.
Mobley, who is viewed as a can’t-miss prospect, will also be on the board. This would give the Thunder another young prospect to build around moving forward.
