Ben Simmons’ value is currently too low
Before the Brooklyn Nets landed James Harden in the blockbuster deal from the Houston Rockets, the 76ers were also involved. The player they were targeting in those trades? Ben Simmons.
Fast forward to the present day and the Nets would hang up the phone on the 76ers should they dangle Simmons as a centerpiece to a Harden deal. That is not because they already have Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but because his value has decreased significantly since January.
Malcolm Brogdon is the first known player to have been offered for Simmons since the postseason ended. C.J. McCollum is another player that has been mentioned.
No disrespect to either player, but they aren’t close to the level of Harden, and in most regards, aren’t close to Simmons either.

His combination of what he has accomplished and his ceiling of what he could accomplish is just too high to sell with his value this low. If Philadelphia does eventually want to trade him, now is not the time as they would get pennies on the dollar in a return package.
