Why the Philadelphia 76ers may want to hold off on a Ben Simmons trade

NBA Analysis Network

The 2020-21 NBA season ended disappointingly once again for Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers. After earning the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference in the regular season, they were defeated by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round in Game 7 on their home court.

A lot of the blame is being placed on Simmons, who disappeared on the offensive side of the ball, again. This has become a troubling trend for the 76ers, as their All-Star point guard is nowhere to be found when the game is on the line.

Simmons averaged only 9.9 points per game against the Hawks as his confidence waned and his hesitancy to shoot skyrocketed.

The image of him passing up a dunk late in Game 7 and the subsequent reaction of Joel Embiid caught on video is a lasting image that won’t be forgotten soon.
