New York Knicks Receive: G Jalen Brunson
Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Kevin Knox 2021 first-round pick (via NYK) and 2022 second-round pick (via NYK)
The core of this package is the New York Knicks getting the starting point guard they have coveted for years. Some options would need to be settled before any deal is consummated, but this would be the backbone of the deal.
Jalen Brunson would finally give New York some stability at the position, but it will not come cheap. Dallas would assuredly hold out for at least one first-round pick, as Brunson is a core member of their second unit. They also began experimenting with him alongside Luka Doncic this season, so the team is high on him as a player.
While this may seem steep for a player who primarily comes off the bench, this deal doesn’t cost nearly as much as a mega-deal for someone such as Damian Lillard would cost.
Dallas gets two picks back to help recoup some of what they sent out in the Porzingis deal. They also get a season to look at Kevin Knox, who needs a change of scenery to get his career on track.

If the draft compensation is changed and Dallas wants to shed some salary, Dwight Powell could also head to New York along with Brunson.
Let’s take a closer look at how this NBA trade scenario centered Jalen Brunson would impact both the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks.
