Celtics trade for Myles Turner
Arguably the biggest knock during Danny Ainge’s run as president of the Celtics was his inability to pull the trigger on trades. Seemingly any time a star hit the trade market, Boston was mentioned but never landed anyone.
The Celtics no longer have the cache of trade assets created from the blockbuster deal with the Brooklyn Nets, but they will have some tradeable pieces and will finally put that to use to land Myles Turner.
Myles Turner is a premier stretch-five in the NBA and would be a great fit in Boston. He has knocked down 35.2 percent of his 3-point attempts and blocked 2.2 shots per game in his career. The former Texas Longhorn would solve Boston’s issues in the middle that have persisted for a long time.
The long-term fit between Turner and Domantas Sabonis has been questioned previously, so if Indiana does split them up, Boston will be there to pounce. With two years remaining on his contract, Boston should be more willing to part with some assets knowing Turner isn’t a rental, but instead, a piece of their core moving forward.

Using what is left of their trade exception would also make facilitating a deal easier, as they wouldn’t have to send out matching salaries to Indiana to make a deal work.
