Evan Fournier is re-signed
Re-signing Evan Fournier should be atop the Celtics to-do list this offseason.
While the cost wasn’t expensive at first glance, as Jeff Teague and two second-round picks were sent to Orlando, the Celtics used $17 million of their more than $28 million trade exception created by the Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade to land Fournier.
That is not something they should let go to waste for 21 games between the regular season and playoffs.
Evan Fournier provided a solid scoring punch for Boston, helping make up for the loss of Jaylen Brown. He is an excellent 3-point shooter whose deficiencies defensively can be covered up as the Celtics have strong wing defenders in Marcus Smart and Brown.

With no real avenues to land impact free agents, retaining Evan Fournier in NBA free agency is a must. At 28-years old, he still has plenty left in the tank even if Boston has to overpay slightly to bring him back to Beantown.
