Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers
There are some things that you do not come back from and Ben Simmons is right there after his postseason performance. It is time for the front office of the Philadelphia 76ers to make that move to send him away. This was not the plan at the beginning of the season but circumstances change and they have in a big way for the Sixers.
Joel Embiid put up an MVP-caliber season. It is likely that he would have been given the award if he did not miss so much time with an injury. With Doc Rivers as head coach, Embiid was used correctly and began to take over as the focal point of the team. This means the Sixers can appropriately build around him.
Malcolm Brogdon would be a much better fit at point guard. He is a true two-way player given he is a strong defender and can score when needed. He is a guard that can be on the floor at the end of games because he can shoot from all three levels.
Brogdon has shown his reliability from three-point range and from the free-throw line. This would be a refreshing change of pace for the Sixers. TJ Warren would be able to provide even more in that department than Brogdon, too.

Fans in Philadelphia have been defending Simmons but there is no defending his performance when it matters most. This is a team that is going to compete moving forward and they can still get a decent return for Simmons in a trade.
