Indiana Pacers Receive: G CJ McCollum
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon and F TJ Warren
Once Victor Oladipo was sent away, the Indiana Pacers have put other big names in NBA trade rumors. Here, they would be able to get rid of two in Malcolm Brogdon and TJ Warren. This means Domantas Sabonis would remain on the roster and likely be the player to build around.
If Brogdon and Warren are moved, the Pacers would need to find a replacement on the perimeter. CJ McCollum is the replacement that would become the focal point of the offense — along with Sabonis and Caris LeVert — forming an intriguing scoring trio.
From a salary cap standpoint, the Pacers would clear $3.5 million but would have McCollum under contract for the next three seasons. The initial decrease in spending obligations wouldn’t be significant.
If there is concern from the Pacers with their likelihood of being able to retain Warren in NBA free agency next offseason, capitalizing on his trade value would make plenty of sense. It becomes a matter of preference between Brogdon and McCollum.

The Trail Blazers would be lessening their long-term salary cap obligations in this trade scenario. TJ Warren is set to earn $12.6 million and is entering the final-year of his current deal. Meanwhile, Malcolm Brogdon is signed for two more seasons and will earn $21.7 million in 2021-22.
Let’s take a closer look at how this NBA trade scenario centered around CJ McCollum would impact both the Indiana Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers.
