Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

It was not surprising to see Victor Oladipo traded but it was a bit of a shock to see the Indiana Pacers finish as poorly as they did. Indiana has been a strong team for many years and has turned into a staple in the Eastern Conference playoffs. This is something they could get back to next year if they make the right moves.

Domantas Sabonis has turned into an All-Star caliber big man. It would behoove the team to keep him around and put some strong guard play around him. This is where McCollum comes in the play.

McCollum is a dynamic scorer that can get it done at all three levels. Next to LeVert, McCollum would succeed and help build a strong duo in the backcourt. This is extremely beneficial in today’s NBA.

Part of the appeal in this trade for the Pacers is that McCollum is signed to a long-term deal. TJ Warren is entering the final year of his current deal and will be set to command a hefty payday, even if he were to choose to return to Indiana.

If Malcolm Brogdon and TJ Warren can land a player like CJ McCollum, this trade seems like a good one for Indiana. The front office will have plenty of options when attempting to replenish the team and will be interesting to see which route to take.
