Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?
To answer the previous question, no it is not too much to give up. You’re saying that New York can acquire one of the best players in the league without giving up Randle or Barrett? They should run to the phone to accept. New York has needed a point guard for years now. It feels like since the days of Walt “Clyde” Frazier.
Lillard would give the Knicks a point guard and a star. These are both things that they need desperately if they want to get to the next level. New York took a huge step toward the postseason this year but showed that they are an imperfect roster. They need help in the frontcourt and at the top of the offense.
A Damian Lillard trade would make them a contender immediately. New York has finally built up some assets that they would be able to move in the form of draft picks and young players.
Some may turn away from this deal because of the haul they would have to give up but it is time to look at the player Lillard is and how he would impact the franchise.

New York got back to seeing how loud Madison Square Garden can get when the Knicks are playing meaningful basketball. With Lillard as the primary option, this would continue and be taken up a notch. This would give the them their best chance of making a deep playoff run in many years.
