Brandon Ingram

With the New Orleans Pelicans moving on from Stan Van Gundy just one year after hiring him, there are rumblings of Brandon Ingram being a potential trade candidate this summer. Ingram is reportedly uncertain if he fits alongside Zion Williamson in New Orleans.

If Ingram requests a trade, there’s no doubt in my mind that the Heat would become a team interested in his services. While Miami could avoid younger players, Brandon Ingram is a player that is entering his sixth season at 24 years old, so he doesn’t lack experience.

And for Ingram, he’s developed into a prolific scorer on the wing, which would allow Butler to play multiple positions on the court. Brandon Ingram just had back-to-back seasons of averaging 23.8 points per game, and he’s shot 38.6 percent from three-point range in that same timespan.

Shooting is something that the Heat desperately need after getting bounced quickly by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of this year’s playoffs.

A trade for Brandon Ingram would have to begin with Tyler Herro, and either Duncan Robinson or Kendrick Nunn — possibly both — could be included as a part of a sign-and-trade scenario. Of course, draft picks would also be headed toward New Orleans in the trade.
