CJ McCollum
For some odd reason, NBA fans have spoken about CJ McCollum as if he’s a low-tier player in the league when he’s not. McCollum has been the second option on the Portland Trail Blazers for the past six seasons, operating as Damian Lillard’s running mate.
In the past six seasons, he’s eclipsed 20+ points per game and he’s an efficient scorer from all three levels of the floor. Even though he wouldn’t be the flashiest acquisition, McCollum gives the Heat exactly what they are missing on offense.
Getting CJ McCollum would give Miami another ball-handler on offense alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. It also gives them a shooter that is capable of excelling in catch-and-shoot situations, which would be welcomed by fans of the Heat.
While McCollum can be a liability on defense, the other players on Miami’s roster, along with the team’s system would help mask his deficiencies as a defender.

It would likely take Tyler Herro and other pieces to land CJ McCollum via trade from the Trail Blazers. The general fact remains that Herro’s inclusion would be a helpful starting point in a deal.
