Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
The Celtics made a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last year down in a bubble but do not have that same success this season. They finished lower in the standings and expected and were not the championship contender previous years. To get back to that level, they will have to find another option that point guard.
With Kemba Walker already being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, there is a hole that needs to be addressed at the point guard position. It won’t be easy to get it done since there isn’t a clear pathway to a dynamic option, so a complementary talent like Jalen Brunson makes plenty of sense.
Walker’s fit in Boston was strange since he signed his free-agent contract. Brown and Jayson Tatum are the offensive stars in Boston and Walker did not fit in because of his need to have the ball in his hands. This is where Brunson would fit in better.
Brunson is a pass for guard with the ability to play alongside stars. He has been a solid player with a high basketball IQ since entering the league the league. That is to be expected coming from a Villanova product.

This move will allow Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum to have some pressure taken off when handling the ball. Brunson could set them up in position to be successful and ultimately bring more depth of the lineup.
