Dallas Mavericks
Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA at just 22-years-old, but outside of him, the Dallas Mavericks have a lot of questionable talent on their roster. Kristaps Porzingis was supposed to be that second All-Star talent on this roster, but he has not been great as of late for Dallas, Josh Richardson was just okay this season and then other guys like Dorian Finney-Smith and Maxi Kleber are not much of factors on the offensive-end of the court.
The Mavericks love what they have in Tim Hardaway Jr. and they will likely look to re-sign him in the offseason, but they will still need to add more perimeter threats for Luka to have around him, especially since they do not have Seth Curry anymore.
This season, the Mavericks shot 36.2% from three-point range as a team, which is not terrible, but ranked them 18th in the league in this category. With Luka Doncic being their main facilitator and scorer, they really need to add some perimeter shooters to their roster, which is why Buddy Hield would be a good fit with them.
At the 2-guard/3-wing position, Buddy Hield could not only be on the receiving end of a ton of passes by Doncic, but he could literally just sit on the perimeter and float around depending on which way Luka is driving. He would not be asked much other than shooting three-pointers, which is why the Mavericks could actually be the best situation for the 28-year-old.

Re-signing Tim Hardaway Jr. and trading for Hield would make things tough for the Mavericks financially, but they could potentially look to trade Josh Richardson ($11.6M) and Dwight Powell ($11M) to free up the cap space needed to bring in a guy like Buddy Hield. If Hardaway Jr. were to depart in NBA free agency, Hield would be a prime replacement option.
The Mavericks have never been shy about spending money to put together a championship-contending roster and with Buddy Hield, they may finally have what it takes to make it to the Western Conference Semifinals and beyond.
