Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?

In the NBA, it’s tough trying to build a win-now roster while also trying to develop young players into starters, especially with the size of rosters. What the Warriors have to decide is whether or not they are going all-in with their trio of Curry, Thompson, and Green.

If they are, then getting someone like Myles Turner in a trade to replace James Wiseman at the center position would make sense, even though Golden State could have draft someone else instead if that’s the case (cough cough* LaMelo Ball *cough cough). But that is an argument for another day.

Getting Turner immediately strengthens the Warriors on the defensive end, pairing him with a defensive stalwart in Green in the frontcourt. On the offensive end, Turner is an improved shooter than Wiseman, allowing Golden State to have more spacing on the floor.

Spacing is vital to the Warriors with Curry and Thompson at their best when they aren’t being crowded when they are trying to maneuver around screens. Also, it’s not like Warren and Lamb are terrible pickups as well in the trade, adding more experience to the locker room.

Yes, the Warriors would be losing one of their key starters in Wiggins in the trade, but he’s another player that just hasn’t put it all together yet in his career. Along with waiting for Wiseman, can Golden State keep giving Wiggins more time to evolve his game to their liking? While fans of the Warriors could question the deal, making a trade for Myles Turner, Warren, and Lamb would show that they are committed to making a playoff push next season.
