Does this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?

When looking at the roster configuration of the Portland Trail Blazers, they have a strong duo in the backcourt but not much down low. This has not translated into winning which could cause the franchise to retool the roster. If they want the biggest return, trading one of their top stars would land them just that.

It would be hard to part ways with an elite talent like Damian Lillard, unless, of course, he were to demand a trade. CJ McCollum is an All-Star caliber guard who could still get them some big pieces in return. Kristaps Porzingis and a first round-pick as the return is something to jump on from Portland.

NBA Draft picks could be used in other deals while Porzingis has star potential when he is on the floor. He has struggled with injuries during his time in the league because of his size and skill set. Regardless, it is a player that would give the Blazers a threat down low.

The Trail Blazers are looking to compete with the other elite teams in the Western Conference. This is a move that will balance out their roster a bit in hopes of competing for that elusive championship.
