Miami Heat
Another intriguing potential trade destination for Marcus Smart would be the Heat, who could be in the market for an upgrade at the shooting guard position this offseason.
Prior to the NBA trade deadline this year, the Heat made a big move to acquire Victor Oladipo from the Houston Rockets. Unfortunately, Oladipo injured his quad again and missed the rest of the season after playing in just four games with the team.
Smart could come in and be the upgrade at shooting guard that the Heat were hoping Oladipo would be. He isn’t a great scorer like Oladipo is, but he would fit in perfectly with the hard-nosed defensive approach that Miami takes. At the price that the rumors have for a Smart trade, the Heat should jump at this opportunity.
Miami was knocked out in the first-round of the NBA Playoffs this season by the Milwaukee Bucks. Pat Riley will not sit quietly this offseason. He wants to win another NBA Finals and Smart could help them achieve that goal.
It will be interesting to see what kind of offseason the Heat put together. Acquiring Smart would be a big win for Miami.
