In Miami’s first-round exit, they started the series with Kendrick Nunn as their starting point guard. But in the final games of the series, it was Goran Dragic who was inserted into the starting lineup, likely signaling the fate of Nunn in free agency. With the Indiana Pacers missing the playoffs, they have some roster decisions to make. By adding Caris LeVert, Malcolm Brogdon could be made available as Brogdon, LeVert, and Domantas Sabonis are all at their best with the ball in their hands.
Malcolm Brogdon would be a perfect fit in Erik Spoelstra’s system, giving the Miami Heat a primary ball-handler outside of Butler. Additionally, Miami would be adding a career 38.6 percent shooter from beyond the arc to a team that was 19th in outside efficiency in 2020-21.
Along with his ability to score in a variety of ways, Malcolm Brogdon is a physical defender that presents challenges to other point guards at 6-foot-5, nearly 230 pounds. The Heat are reportedly in the market for a point guard and Malcolm Brogdon checks all of the boxes in what they are looking for.
