Looking at the roster of the Lakers since James arrived, it’s obvious that they’ve made somewhat of an effort to surround him with shooters. The likes of Danny Green, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Wesley Matthews have all operated the shooting guard position at different times in the past two seasons.

While all of them have served their roles well — for the most part — Los Angeles could use someone that brings more consistency in the shooting department.

Buddy Hield of the Sacramento Kings is an interesting name to watch this offseason, even after he inked a four-year, $94 million extension with the organization before the 2019-2020 campaign. Dating back to his collegiate days at Oklahoma, Hield has been a marksman from beyond the arc. Despite being selected in the 2017 NBA Draft, Hield is already 28 years old, which shouldn’t matter to a win-now team like the Lakers.

In his first five seasons in the NBA, Hield has converted 40.6 percent of his three-point shots, shooting an average of 7.4 three-pointers a game in that span. Hield isn’t afraid to spam shots from outside and in recent years, he’s become an improved scorer on different spots of the floor.
