Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?

Trading Zach LaVine makes little to no sense for the Chicago Bulls ,especially after they gave up a bunch of assets to bring in Nikola Vucevic. If LaVine had not been put in the league’s health and safety protocols at the end of the regular season, there was a strong chance that they would have made the play-in tournament and who knows, they could have made the playoff field.

This team is not far off from making the playoffs and with a core of LaVine, Vucevic, White and Williams, they are in a good spot to continue growing in the Eastern Conference. Not to mention, Chicago will have over $10M in cap space, possibly close to $15M in cap space should they cut some contracts, to play around in free agency and possibly bring in a key point guard to add to their core.

The idea of adding Lonzo Ball has been floating around within the Bulls organization since the trade deadline, which is why they should not be having any ideas of trading away Zach LaVine. He is the key offensive weapon on the Bulls and with Vucevic by his side in a full 82-game season, this team could actually be special.

The Bulls lost their first-round pick this year to the Magic as part of the Vucevic trade and they only have a second-round pick, but there are opportunities for this team to continue growing. WIth Lauri Markkanen set to become a free agent and the possibility of adding another high-level talent in free agency, the Bulls should not have their attention set on making a trade involving Zach LaVine.

Maybe down the line if things do not work out Chicago will look to trade LaVine, but as of right now, it is pretty safe to say that he is going to remain in Chicago through the 2021-22 season.
