Does this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
Seeing as the Pistons made big strides this year and will likely end up with yet another top-tier talent from the draft, they should not be looking to make big moves to their roster. Jerami Grant was great for them this year and will be great for them next year, so why trade him now?
His value is high and they could get some future talent for him from the Lakers, but is adding Kuzma and another first-round pick this year more valuable than keeping Grant as the leader of the team?

To me, the answer is no, which is why this trade does not make much sense for the Pistons. Other than Kyle Kuzma, the Lakers do not really have anything to offer up to Detroit, which is why they should not be looking to trade Grant to L.A. in the offseason.
The one team that they could potentially make a deal with that would make sense for the Pistons given all of their assets is the Boston Celtics, but again, it is unlikely that a deal will get done for Grant given how valuable he was to the Pistons this season.
While they only won 20 games this year, the Detroit Pistons are not that bad of a team compared to other teams near the bottom of the standings and are going to be on the rise over the next several years. They have a young core in place with a leader in Jerami Grant, so the best thing they can do right now is to be patient and continue to add and develop young talents to/on their roster.
