Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F Jerami Grant
Detroit Pistons Receive: F Kyle Kuzma, LAL 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #22), LAL 2023 2nd Round Pick, LAL 2024 2nd Round Pick
If the Lakers truly want to make a run at Jerami Grant, especially after the season that he had this year, then they are going to have to give the Pistons a deal that they cannot resist. Not only will Kyle Kuzma have to be included, but they will have to be willing to part with numerous draft picks in order to please the Pistons.
In this deal, Kuzma would be heading home to Michigan and the Detroit Pistons would also be receiving a first-round pick this year (Pick #22) and two future second-round picks. Kuzma, who is in his fourth season in the league now, put together a really solid season yet again and has been known to play his role perfectly with the Lakers over the years.

He has had moments where he showed his full potential, but with guys like LeBron, AD, Schroder and Drummond around him, Kuzma has mainly been used as a role player off-the-bench and has not been able to become the high-level player that he is.
In Detroit, Kyle Kuzma could not only emerge as a star of their team, but he could easily be a focal point for them moving forward since he is only 25-years-old and turning 26 this summer. If Kuzma was to join the Pistons, there is no reason why he could not have a breakout season like Jerami Grant just had for them.

Over the years though, Kyle Kuzma has become a key talent for the Lakers and they have been unwilling to give him up in any deals, even if they are receiving a star caliber player in return. He fits in with the Lakers so well, which is why they may not be willing to give him up this offseason.
There are a lot of “if’s” about this trade between the Pistons and the Lakers, which is why it likely will not happen in the offseason, but let’s take a look to see if both teams should even be interested in making this deal.
