Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?
This offseason, the Lakers will have some decisions to make about who they keep and who they let go since Dennis Schroder, Andre Drummond, Wesley Matthews, Alex Caruso, Talen Horton-Tucker and Markieff Morris are all set to become free agents. Montrezl Harrell could also become a free agent if he wanted to this offseason since he has a $9.7M player option for the 2021-22 season.
With all the uncertainty about their roster, trading for Jerami Grant may not be that bad of an idea, especially since he has proven that he can be a star-level player. Grant could join the Lakers and be that “third key guy” that they need next to LeBron and AD to contend for more championships.

Quite honestly, Grant is probably just a slightly better player than Kuzma and while they would have to give up a first-round pick in the process this season, it may be worth it given that Grant is under contract for a while and is a high-level talent that can play on the wing or in the low-post.
Whether it is being able to score or play great defense, Jerami Grant fits in perfectly with how the Lakers have played over the years, which is why this is a trade they should pursue if the Pistons are willing to hear them out on an offer this offseason.
The only catch to this trade is that the first-round pick that the Lakers have this year cannot be traded until the pick is made after the draft, which is why things could get confusing between the Lakers and Pistons in a trade scenario like this.
