If there is one thing that the Washington Wizards need to improve to become legitimate contenders, it is their defense. Washington gave up 118.5 points per game this season. They play at a fast pace, which is partly why they give up so many points per game, but it is a number that undoubtedly has to improve if they are to make some noise in the Eastern Conference.

Finding defensive-minded players isn’t easy, but one they may be able to snag on a bargain is Frank Ntilikina. Ntilikina has some devout backers in the New York Knicks fan base, but his time with the organization could be coming to an end this summer.

Ntilikina would be an excellent addition to Washington as he could play alongside either Westbrook or Beal in the backcourt, or slide over to the three and play alongside both of them. His perimeter defense would be a welcome addition in Washington. If the three-point shooting improvement he showed with the Knicks this season is legitimate, he could be a steal for a team in free agency.

This would be a cost-effective way to shore up a big-time weakness for the Wizards.
