Daniel Theis – Chicago Bulls

A lot of the talk for the Hornets and the possibility of adding a center in free agency has been centered around Richaun Holmes, but Daniel Theis has popped up as a potential option for the Hornets in recent weeks.

Theis started the season with the Boston Celtics, but was traded to the Chicago Bulls at the trade deadline and played well all season long. On the season, Theis averaged 9.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and shot 54.1% from the floor and 32.2% from three-point range.

He is not a guy that is going to be a beast in the paint and be a dynamic scorer, but Theis is an excellent role player that can make a difference on both ends of the court. While the Bulls did not play well down the stretch run of the season, Theis played really well and became a key part of their starting rotation.

Signing Theis would not eat into the Hornets’ cap space much, as they could look to give him an $8 million per year contract, giving the Hornets an opportunity to add Theis as well as another big man to their roster in the offseason.

This is definitely an option for the Hornets in the offseason and should the top centers be available in Holmes and Andre Drummond not fall Charlotte’s way, then signing Theis and someone else would not be a bad idea at all.

He is experienced and plays his role perfectly, which is why Theis would be a good fit with the Hornets.
