Richaun Holmes – Sacramento Kings
The number one guy on the Hornets’ offseason list in free agency should be Richaun Holmes and for good reason. Holmes has spent the last two years in Sacramento and he has been getting better and better due to his athletic abilities and length.
This year, Holmes had a career-year with the Kings, averaging 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, and shooting 63.7% from the floor. He is not much of a jump-shooter and does most of his work in the paint, but Holmes is one of the most athletic centers in the league and is only going to get better.
At just 27 years old, Holmes is experienced enough but also young enough to fit in perfectly with this young Hornets roster and given his athleticism, he needs to be the primary focus in the offseason for Charlotte.
This is too good of an opportunity to pass up and while he may like playing for Sacramento, let’s be honest, they are not going to be a playoff team in the Western Conference. As a result, he may be interested in leaving and joining an up-and-coming team like the Hornets.
There have been rumors that Richaun Holmes is expecting a four-year, $80 million contract in the offseason, but Charlotte could potentially look to sign the big man to a three or four-year, $70 million contract. Either way, this signing would be worth it for the Hornets and give them exactly what they need to be a threat in the Eastern Conference.
