Look to execute a sign-and-trade involving Kelly Oubre Jr.

When news broke that Thompson was going to be out for the year, the Warrior scrambled to make a move to bring in another talent on the wing to try and replace him for this season, so they settled on Kelly Oubre Jr, who has been decent for them this year.

Oubre Jr. is set to be an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason and given their experience with sign-and-trades in the past, it would not come as a surprise to see the Warriors try and execute one involving Kelly Oubre Jr.

Who knows if any team will be willing to pay him more than his current contract of around $15M/year, but salvaging some value from Oubre Jr. would definitely be something this Warriors’ front-office would be interested in doing.

In the process, they could potentially swap him for another key talent to help them in their championship pursuit. One name that comes to mind that will be available with a similar contract is Eric Gordon of the Rockets, but who knows if the Rockets would be interested in getting Kelly Oubre Jr.

Whatever the case may be, it seems like Kelly Oubre Jr. will not be returning to the Warriors next season, which is why looking to move him in a sign-and-trade could be a good idea for Golden State. They would have to take on more money in salaries and pay even more taxes, but they have not been shy at doing this before, so why stop now?
