Luke Walton – Sacramento Kings

Luka Walton is in his second season with the Sacramento Kings and while they have improved offensively since he has been there, this team still seems like they are not close to making the playoffs. They are two wins away from posting their third consecutive 30+ win season, but this will mark the 15th consecutive year that the Kings have missed the playoffs. 

Walton cannot be blamed for the first 13 years of this playoff drought, but the Kings have not seemed to make any adjustments over the last two years. Personnel and roster wise, the Kings are definitely lacking overall talent outside of their starting five, but this team should definitely be more competitive than they have been all season long.

After missing the playoffs last season, it seemed like Walton was on the “hot seat” and now, after missing the playoffs again this year, the noise for the Kings to move onto yet another head coach could grow louder within this fan base. 

Out of every coach outlined in this article, Luke Walton seems like the most safe out of the four, but his third season will likely be a crucial season for him to take the Kings to the playoffs. They have the young talent to be able to at least make the play-in tournament and if they underachieve again, Walton will likely be out as the head coach.
