Davion Mitchell enters the NBA Draft as arguably the best defensive guard
Baylor was known for being one of the best defensive teams in college basketball all year long and it started with the play of Davion Mitchell in the backcourt. He is extremely quick on his feet defensively and while he is not the longest guard, he is extremely good at predicting passes and interfering in the passing lanes.
Mitchell ranked 36th in the country this past season in steals per game and due to his physical nature, he was able to guard many different positions. Standing about 6’2”, Davion Mitchell may be a little undersized to guard NBA wings, but his toughness and quickness will give him a chance to defend anybody at a high-level.
I have seen the comparison to Marcus Smart pop up a lot to Mitchell and his overall game and I really do like this comparison. Muhc like when Smart was coming out of college, Mitchell has made a name for himself being a two-way threat who is more than comfortable having the ball in his hands.

Mitchell uses his athleticism to his advantage and with his quick first step and anticipation on the defensive-end of the court, he has a chance to be a very impactful two-way player in this league from the moment he steps out on the court.
