Jonathan Kuminga

Jonathan Kuminga was the fourth-ranked prospect in the Class of 2020 coming out of The Patrick School in Hillside, NJ. He decided to sign with the G-League rather than going to college. In his preparation year, Kuminga showed huge promise but is not a finished product. Regardless, Kuminga will be a top-five pick and the Timberwolves could be one of the best fits.

At 6-foot-8, Jonathan Kuminga is an incredible athlete with great size and versatility. He averaged 15.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest in 13 games for the Ignite. Kuminga shot just 24.8% from three-point range and this is where there is room to grow. The 18-year-old forward has an NBA-ready frame, which is important coming in.

On the defensive side of the floor, Kuminga can guard many positions and rebound effectively. He has the makings of a future star and could be a viable option for the Timberwolves at the top of the 2021 NBA Draft.

The Timberwolves have seen some real impact from Jaden McDaniels defensively this season but aside from him, there is a real need to improve around their star players. Jonathan Kuminga would help in this regard significantly while making Minnesota a more athletic unit with strength on the wing.

Jonathan Kuminga would add some versatility to Minnesota, to say the least. They would have many options on how to handle the duo of Edwards and Kuminga. If they miss out on a top-two selection, Kuminga could be their next best option.
