The New York Knicks have a chance to clinch a postseason berth this season. This is something that was unexpected coming into the season but the team has overachieved to this point under head coach Tom Thibodeau.

He has this Knicks team playing well on both ends of the floor but especially defensively. They have led the league in points allowed form much of the season. Come the offseason, the Knicks could improve the lineup further with either a point guard or a center.

Dennis Schroder would improve the point-guard position immediately. This is something that the team has not had in quite some time. This season, Elfrid Payton has acted as the starting point guard with rookie Immanuel Quickley coming off the bench. The Knicks made a trade with the Detroit Pistons to acquire Derrick Rose and he has played well off the bench.

The Knicks have been led by Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett this season but the NBA is a point guard-driven league. Adding a player like Schroder would pull the team together and continue to point them in the right direction.

New York has been a laughingstock in the league for quite some time but they finally have the right leadership to take them where they want to be. The Knicks will have some cap space to add a star in the offseason and this is something they need in the worst way.
