3. Victor Oladipo Will Be A Defensive Genius
While many are focused on what Oladipo will bring to the Heat on the offensive end of the court, his defense could be the most important aspect of this move. Miami will be getting a guy who can play a high level of perimeter defense and get into the passing lanes.
Offense is the focus of today’s NBA, but defense still can win a team a ring. Oladipo may not be an elite defender, but his ability to wreak havoc in the passing games and come up with deflections has been elite.
Throughout his eight-year career thus far, Oladipo has averaged 1.6 steals per game. That will continue with the Heat. In fact, he will be a star on the defensive end of the court for the Heat.
With the offense that Miami has and Oladipo coming in to improve their defense, the team will improve dramatically. Jimmy Butler is an elite on-ball defender, Bam Adebayo is a very good paint defender, and Oladipo will give the Heat another great presence on the perimeter. This Heat team is going to be very difficult to score again.
