Why This Trade Would Make Sense For The Boston Celtics
The Celtics need a rim protector that has more true size for the center position. The story of Robert Williams III earning his way into the starting lineup is nice and all, but he’s not nearly dynamic enough defensively to anchor a high-level unit on that end.
Myles Turner would widen the margin for error for the rest of the Celtics’ unit in ways he has already shown to be able to do with underwhelming personnel on the Pacers.
The Celtics could embrace using smaller personnel once again and have tremendous speed as a unit to be able to fly around within the half-court. Turner’s rim protection would put a lid on the rim while the rest of the group would be able to stay home on shooters.

There is plenty of potential that Turner has to tap into if he played for a team that sought to embrace him as more of a traditional center. He is a legitimate play finisher in the paint and can succeed against mistmatches in the post. He also has the ability to put the ball on the floor from out in space and stretch the floor.
