This Celtics-Pacers offseason trade features Myles Turner

Both the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers have underachieved after having higher expectations for the 2020-21 NBA season. Things do not appear to be set to turn around down the stretch-run either.

The Celtics had legitimate NBA championship aspirations. However, after losing players like Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, and Al Horford over the last few NBA offseasons, Boston simply lacks the talent around players like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to compete at that level.

Now, there is a superteam in the Eastern Conference with the Brooklyn Nets having a superstar trio with Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. The Celtics simply cannot compete with that and there isn’t going to be a quick fix to do it either.

Instead, the Celtics need to carve out a niche. They used to be able to get the job done at a high-level defensively and need a better rim protector with versatility to get it done. That’s where Myles Turner would come into play to help make them more dynamic.

Meanwhile, the Pacers will need to figure out an identity to build around. That could very well come with deciding between their two centers in Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis.

With that being said, let’s take a look at a trade scenario that would feature Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner being sent to the Boston Celtics.
