Third Scoring Option

While Andre Drummond has always been known to be one of the NBA’s best rebounders ever since he entered the league ahead of the 2012-13 season, Drummond has also been a very consistent scoring option on the offensive-end of the court, averaging about 14.6 points per game over the course of his now 9-year career.

Before sitting out of games while he and the Cavaliers reached an agreement on his future, Drummond was averaging 17.5 points per game this season and shooting 47.4% from the floor. While they are a great defensive team, the Lakers struggles are mainly on the offensive-end of the court this season, which is why Drummond could give them a major boost.

When healthy, the Lakers’ offense runs through both LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but they do not have that reliable and consistent third scoring option they desperately need to contend with some of the other top teams in the NBA.

You could make the argument that they did not have that third, consistent scoring option last year when they won the title, but with some of the top teams in the league adding even more talent this year, the Lakers really need to have that third, consistent scoring option to turn to for production.

Andre Drummond can not only be that guy for the Lakers, but he can be a double-double machine for them, taking a ton of pressure off of both LeBron James and Anthony Davis to do everything for this team.

The Lakers are virtually adding a guy who can score 14+ points in the paint on any given night, which is a massive addition when you think about the big picture. Los Angeles is averaging about 111.0 points per game this season (21st in the NBA) and essentially, adding Drummond could be enough to push them into the Top-10 in the league in scoring, especially when they get James and Davis back.

Drummond is known for being a terrific rebounder and affecting the game on the defensive-end of the court, but he could make just as big of an impact for the Lakers on offense because of what he can do in the low-post and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities.
