Heat including Duncan Robinson in trade offer for Kyle Lowry

The Miami Heat are going to be aggressive to add to their roster before the NBA Trade Deadline. They want to upgrade their backcourt, and they have their sights set on Toronto Raptors point guard, Kyle Lowry. One player that they are including in their offer for Lowry is sharpshooter Duncan Robinson.

Lowry has spent the last nine seasons with the Raptors and is regarded as arguably the best player in franchise history. However, his time with the organization could be coming to an end today as the Heat and other contending teams are interested in acquiring him.

While Toronto wants to do the right thing by Lowry and he will have input on where he wants to be traded, they will not just give him away for free. The Raptors want to make sure they can add pieces to help transition into their new era built around Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam.

Draft picks and young players will be discussed in all of the packages. While Miami doesn’t have much draft capital to offer up, they do have some intriguing young players. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, they are willing to include one of them, Duncan Robinson, in trade talks for Lowry.

Interestingly, as Windhorst added, the other young player many teams ask about in trade negotiations with the Heat, Tyler Herro, is not being made available in these trade talks for Kyle Lowry. While he is struggling this season, Miami is still high on the player that Herro can become.

Robinson has developed into one of the best shooters in the NBA since joining the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018 out of Michigan. While he leaves a lot to be desired defensively, his 3-point shooting is deadly enough to make up for it.

Robinson will be heading into restricted free agency this summer. After seeing the deal that Joe Harris landed from the Brooklyn Nets this past offseason, four-years, $75 million, Robinson is sure to garner an expensive offer sheet from a team looking for more shooting this offseason.
