Why this trade makes sense for the New York Knicks:
During the 2019-20 NBA season, Graham averaged 18.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 38.2% from the floor and 37.3% from three-point range. He also led the Hornets in minutes played, assists, steals and scoring last season.
The Knicks desperately need that third, reliable offensive weapon, which is exactly what Devonte’ Graham can be for them. He is a very unselfish player and having the ability to play off-the-ball with Julius Randle being the main facilitator on the court could prove to be very beneficial for Graham’s perimeter game.
While they do have an abundance of talent in their backcourt, Devonte’ Graham could play on or off-the-ball for the Knicks and be successful in any role they put him in. With Derrick Rose and Immanuel Quickley being two solid point guards in the Knicks’ rotations, Graham could easily fit in as a perimeter threat running off of screens and getting open for catch-and-shoot opportunities.
New York currently ranks 12th in the league in three-point shooting, but the Knicks are not really a perimeter-oriented team and mostly look to attack the rim and score in the paint. Adding a true perimeter threat like Graham could be really beneficial to them in their efforts to make the playoffs because he will have plenty of opportunities to score from the perimeter.

Not only could Devonte’ Graham be the Knicks’ best three-point weapon, but could give them that little extra bit of offensive firepower they need to potentially lock-up their playoff spot this year.
At the cost of a first-round pick, a second-round pick and Elfrid Payton, the Knicks could be getting a young, dynamic combo-guard that they could build with for years to come. This is why they should look to pursue Devonte’ Graham ahead of the trade deadline this year.
