While they are not that talented of an offensive team, the New York Knicks have been one of the most surprising NBA teams to this point in the seasons because of how good they are defensively. They rank 4th in the league in defensive rating and as a result of how good they are defensively, the Knicks look like they are going to be heading to the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
There is still a lot of basketball yet to be played and anything can happen, but Tom Thibodeau has done a remarkable job with this young and hungry Knicks team to this point in the season.
With Julius Randle having a breakout All-Star season, R.J. Barrett continuing to improve during his second year in the league and other key contributors like Alec Burks, Elfrid Payton, Derrick Rose and rookie Immanuel Quickley stepping up into bigger roles, this Knicks team is definitely a team that nobody wants to play.
In recent weeks, the Knicks have found themselves a part of numerous trade rumors as they may look to improve offensively at this year’s trade deadline. Outside of Randle and Barrett, New York does not have another “go-to” scorer, which is why they could look to make a significant move to potentially lock-in their playoff spot this season.
