JaVale McGee – Cleveland Cavaliers
With the Cavaliers acquiring Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince earlier in the year and the fact that they are always searching for ways to add more young talent and draft picks, there is a strong possibility that they look to trade JaVale McGee at the NBA trade deadline.
If this is the case, the Spurs should definitely be interested in the veteran center because he is an underrated and impactful player. Maybe he gave himself a bad name by appearing on “Shaqtin’ a Fool” too many times, but McGee has always been a very reliable back-up center that not only knows what it takes to win, but is always willing to sacrifice personal success for team success.
McGee has not played much for the Cavaliers this year, only averaging about 15 minutes per game, but he is averaging 7.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in his limited minutes. With Jakob Poetlt not being a consistent big man and Aldridge being in the final years of his career, the Spurs could really benefit from having an explosive center like JaVale McGee.

Not only can he score in the low-post, something big men in San Antonio have made a living doing, but he is one of the best offensive-rebounders in the league and a very sound shot-blocker. Everything the Spurs need from a center they can get in JaVale McGee and with him only being owed $4.2M this season, he could be the low-value, high-impact player the Spurs need to target to lock-up their playoff spot this season.
